Summertime Along the Banks of the River's Alre and Itchen
 

The tranquil River Alre flows west to join the River Itchen near Seward's Bridge.             All photographs © David Packman

 

One pair of Swans choose to nest on an island in the river. Time to check the eggs...

The Yellow Iris is a familiar sight on river banks.

 

The Gatekeeper butterfly.


Not to be out done by the swan and cygnets a pair of mallards demonstrate their feeding technique.

 
 

The shade loving female Ringlet butterfly is sometimes confused with the male Meadow Brown below.
