~~~~~~~~~~ Nether Wallop ~ Part One ~~~~~~~~~~ A collection of images I've gathered of the village over the last few months. One of the things I've noticed over the last few years in this, and many other Hampshire villages is how few people you meet there during the weekday. Can they all be commuters...?
A familiar form of sunrise this summer, a burst of sun before disappearing behind clouds to reappear some hours later if you're lucky. Although late August and early September did look like summer but with a touch of autumn in the wind. |
One thing related to summer days and always appearing bright is the sunflower. This one standing over 12 feet high had a couple of companions. |
The three villages of Over, Middle and Nether Wallop are situated either side of the road and the Wallop Brook that runs along the valley bottom. Nether Wallop in my opinion is by far the most attractive of the three with a large range of houses and cottages, from the large manor house style to the small thatched cottage. |
On the narrow rural roads two different forms of horse power keep a wary eye on each other. |
|
The Five Bells, the village inn was originally a brick and tiled farmhouse with outbuildings and stables but was extensively modernised in the mid 1960s. |
The bane of all photographers, power and telephone poles. |
|
The ever changing styles of cottages in the village. |
|
Moulands Meadow which borders on the Wallop Brook is named after the family whose generosity made the new village green possible. |
The Wallop Brook rises at Over Wallop and winds its way down the valley before joining the River Test at Bossington.
