~~~~~~~~~~ Autumn Colours at Furzey Gardens, Minstead ~~~~~~~~~~ The cold and damp of the English winter has arrived and so unfortrunately has the arthritis in my fingers, as a consequence this winter I'll be updating Hampshirecam hopefully every two weeks. So three pages this update, the next update should be Monday 12th November.
Furzey Gardens flowering trees, shrubs and water garden has been described as a botanist's and gardener's delight. The eight acres of informal gardens at Minstead were designed and planted in 1922 and is renowned for its all year round beauty. Above on the left is the Forest Cottage which is believed to have been built in the 16th century, while on the right is the shop and the Will Selwood Art and Craft Gallery. The gardens are part of a charitable trust that provides residential care and horticultural training to young people with learning difficulties through the work of the Minstead Training Project. Many of the students help maintain the gardens as part of their work experience programme. |
