On a walk home in the rain we came across these newly hatched Mallard ducklings, six dark brown and two bright yellow. For the following two days they had completely disappeared from the river, on the third day they returned to the place where we first saw them, but as you can see she now has seven dark brown and only one yellow chick...

...six days later and she still has all her chicks, the other two are out of frame at the bottom of the image.
